MS wants Windows to talk to users users largely want it to go as far away as possible. It may do what you want without a Settings treasure hunt it’s still better to spend the time learning the Admin features in Pro, otherwise your issues will recur. It only makes changes you haven’t already made, no tangles I use it in every Windows machine.

I guess the ultimate answer is to disable the Windows update step, but now I have the fine Windows 10 nagware coming up during my MDT deployments, which is now causing me to halt rolling out 45k worth of gear. What that VPN switch on a spring does, IDK the last thing anyone would do is let a standalone VPN be configured by Windows, if you can even follow their ridiculous instructions. In some installations of Windows, Microsoft changed the Windows Update control panel to Upgrade to Windows 10. Every update does something to Settings and some switches revert the instant you leave them. Having said that, MS keeps playing with switches moving them around, hiding them, changing their effects. Same for letting apps access your account, contacts, etc. I have never reserved an upgrade nor do I have Windows Store account.

All I want is an operating system, not all the additional stuff that Microsoft wants to add that has nothing to do with running the computer (but Linux doesn’t always work for my needs, so no need to suggest that some programs just don’t run well - yet). Attach the USB flash drive or insert the DVD on the PC where you want to install Windows 10. Quite frankly, I’m getting tired of this screen. There is no option to tell it “no, thanks, now stop bugging me!” - I can either continue or click on “remind me later”. It wants me to implement Windows Hello, OneDrive, and four other items for which I have absolutely no use. I’ve noticed after the past two or three Windows 10 Pro updates (can’t give you the exact version this is mainly on my home computer and I’m at the office when I’m thinking about it) I get a notification that “we need to finish setting up your system”. Feel free to link to the answer if someone actually has answered it before! When you get that black command prompt window just type (copy/paste) the following command and once its executed reboot your computer and Windows 10 upgrade.

If XXCopy were not working just fine, I would doubtless buy a license for X2Copy, given that the script syntax is the same as XXCopy, but as it is. The update window is just an annoyance of course, it doesn't interfere with the operation of the scripts. Well, I don't see myself changing from XXCopy after all this time: I have been using it since I changed to Windows XP from Millennium - the programme works perfectly in Windows 10 too by the way, despite what is said in the quote.
